Terms of Service

Last updated: March 3, 2026

1. Agreement

By accessing or using the StatementParse API or website ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms constitute a legal agreement between you and StatementParse.

2. Description of Service

StatementParse provides a REST API that converts bank statement PDF documents into structured JSON data. The Service includes the API, the developer portal at statementparse.dev, API documentation, and related tools.

3. Accounts

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and API keys.
  • You must not share API keys or allow unauthorized access to your account.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
  • One person or entity per account. You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or to process documents you do not have authority to access.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the API.
  • Circumvent rate limits, usage quotas, or other technical restrictions.
  • Resell or redistribute the API as a standalone service without written permission.
  • Use automated means to create accounts or generate API keys.
  • Transmit malicious files, malware, or content designed to disrupt the Service.

5. API Usage and Rate Limits

  • Usage is subject to the limits of your subscription plan.
  • Exceeding your plan's quota will result in HTTP 429 responses until the next billing period.
  • We reserve the right to throttle or suspend accounts that abuse the Service or impact other users.
  • Test API keys (prefixed sp_test_) are free and do not count toward quotas, but return mock/limited data.

6. Payment and Billing

  • Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe.
  • All fees are non-refundable except as required by law.
  • We may change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing customers.
  • Failure to pay may result in downgrade to the free tier or account suspension.

7. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. PDF documents are processed in memory and never stored. We do not retain, read, or have access to the content of your bank statements after processing.

8. Accuracy Disclaimer

While we strive for high accuracy, the Service parses PDFs using automated extraction and may not produce perfect results for all documents. You are responsible for verifying parsed data before using it for financial decisions, accounting, or compliance purposes. StatementParse is not a financial advisor and does not guarantee the accuracy of extracted data.

9. Intellectual Property

  • The Service, including its code, design, documentation, and branding, is owned by StatementParse.
  • You retain ownership of all documents you upload and all data returned by the API.
  • We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the API according to these terms.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StatementParse shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, deploy updates, or experience outages. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime.

12. Termination

  • You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
  • Upon termination, your API keys will be revoked and access to the Service will cease.
  • Sections on liability, intellectual property, and dispute resolution survive termination.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
